Ian is a chartered mechanical engineer with 19 years’ experience of innovation in the marine sector, working in wave and tidal energy, offshore wind, low carbon ship propulsion and uncrewed surface vessel technology. Ian has a proven track record managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex research and development projects for private and public sector clients. Ian is passionate about the marine environment, its stewardship and sustainable development.
Chief Scientific Officer
Dan completed his doctorate in crop science at Rothamsted Research where he worked on the impact of different nutrient regimes on crop quality. Dan has worked in the Innovation Team at the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) where he established and managed a number of joint funding initiatives with industry, focussing on crop and animal agriculture and food security. More recently Dan worked for the University of Plymouth where he supported bioscience and environmental science researchers with research and innovation activities. Dan is an experienced project manager and enthusiastic problem solver.
Chief Technical Officer
Andy is a mechanical engineer with 20 years’ experience in product design and design for manufacture. Before joining Tope, Andy was the technical director of a Devon firm that manufactures plastic components and systems for the display equipment and medical device sectors. Andy has significant experience in the development of prototypes and the subsequent commercialisation of these prototypes into new products.
